Due to its compact size the island of Madeira is ideal to navigate by car. The island boasts almost 200 km / 124 miles of coastline, but there are few beaches. The circular N101 road follows a route once around the whole island. Nearby the capital, Funchal you'll find many quaint villages such as Camancha and Câmara de Lobos.

Madeira is a popular holiday destination and several well known and reputed international car rental companies are represented in Funchal. To make sure the car you wish is available by the time you arrive it is recommended to pre-book car hire online.
